For the past few months, I have been working on this book featuring photos from the 1940s onwards documenting my family’s transition from our home island, Mauritius, to the UK for a better life. This book investigates the reality of diaspora life, migration, assimilation struggles and cultural preservation through interviews with multiple family members. Alongside this, the book also features poems by Mauritian poet René Noyau, Mauritian food recipes, Sega track lists and information on Mauritian traditions.
